The Newton Abbot Security Trust (NAST) is a ‘not for profit’ company whose object is to manage the security of Newton Abbot Town Centre and other towns within Teignbridge District.
Enabling Newton Abbot to thrive
The Trust will be managed by a board of trustees two of whom will be David Austin of Austins Department Store and Jeremy Newcombe of LSN Architects. Day to day management will be carried out by Tom Hirst.
The Town Council has nominated two representatives to the board. A representative from the Police and the Town Centre Manager will attend board meetings by invitation.
The NAST Radio Link operation will become part of the overall town security system uniting its link with CCTV which is so important to delivering effective town security. Radio Link has the potential to increase considerably with the offer of an improved security service and the Trust will aim to increase its income through improved and extended security services.
The Trust will be responsible for all the maintenance and replacement of the CCTV equipment including cameras, monitors, pc’s, office fabric and machinery. It will also be responsible for all data protection issues and has liaised with the Police to agree protocol of the use of security information.
The Board of Trustees will meet four to six times a year. Meetings will be minuted and an annual report on performance of the Trust and its accounts will be prepared and then circulated to the Town Council, the Chamber of Trade and business security members.
The Trust will aim to be transparent in its management but secure in its operations. This will be an organisation operating for the benefit of Newton Abbot and those other towns within the District who chose to use our services.
